From arthritis to insulin to mood, Vitamin D plays an important role in your physical and

"It's estimated that about 75 percent of American teens and adults don't get enough vitamin D, and studies suggest that this may play a role in several chronic diseases, including arthritis." (Suszynski, 2012) Research has also shown that Vitamin D may play an important role in mood regulation and reducing the risk of depression. (Devje, 2022)
There are two ways to ensure that your body is getting enough Vitamin D, diet and exposure to the sun. It doesn't take a lot of exposure to the sun to get what you need, and you should always practice sun safety.
It is important to note that a medical professional must diagnose a Vitamin D deficiency, which requires a blood test. If you feel you may have a deficiency, talk to your care team for guidance. Dosing is also important, as Vitamin D is fat-soluble and can cause problems when too much is consumed. It can also interact negatively with certain medications; another reason to discuss this with your care team.
