Health by Design’s Comprehensive Health Exams provide you and your employees with a complete snapshot of personal health. Our caring professionals provide guidance, education, and referrals designed to help you make smart health care decisions based on the results.

A thorough assessment is the basis for our ongoing Health Care Direct  service. Whether for yourself, a spouse or key team member, we know that it is a wise investment in their future and the foundation of exceptional care.

Each Comprehensive Health Exam includes:

 

  • Complete medical history (personal and family)
  • Nutritional analysis to provide a snapshot of your dietary intake
  • Assessments to screen for anxiety and depression
  • Screenings for gastrointestinal conditions, including colorectal cancer
  • Pulmonary function testing
  • Hearing testing
  • Tonometry test to measure eye pressure and detect glaucoma

  • Vision testing (visual acuity, color vision, tonometry and depth perception)
  • DEXA (Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) bone density scan to screen for osteoporosis and hologic body mass composition. Estimates total body fat, lean mass and visceral adipose tissue (VAT) —an important contributor to diabetes.
  • Carotid ultrasound to measure CIMT and assess risk of cardiovascular disease
  • An extensive follow up coaching and review session with your physician to convert findings to an action plan for optimized well being

 

 

Each exam also includes a full laboratory work-up:

 

 

  • Comprehensive metabolic panel to detect diabetes and kidney or liver issues by testing:
    • Blood sugar level
    • Electrolyte and fluid balance
    • Kidney and liver function
  • Iron and ferritin testing to measure blood iron levels and iron storage
  • Urinalysis to screen for urinary tract abnormalities.
  • Calcium and phosphorus level checks (bone health and other processes)
  • Advanced cardiovascular testing: Comprehensive lab tests that assist in evaluating risk of coronary artery disease, stroke, and other vascular diseases:
    • Basic lipid panel
    • Lipoprotein (a)
    • Apo A & Apo B
    • HDL & LDL particle number
    • Lp-PLA2, MPO, CRP and other markers of inflammation
    • Optional genetic testing for cardiovascular risk"

 

  • Thyroid-stimulating hormone test to detect thyroid issues
  • Vitamin D 25-Hydroxy test
  • Blood sugar, hemoglobin A1C and insulin level tests to help identify insulin resistance and risk for diabetes

Depending on your age and family history, our physicians may also recommend:

 
  • Maximum treadmill stress test (evaluates response to physical activity; used to help establish physical fitness levels and the risk of coronary artery disease)
  • Flexible sigmoidoscopy to screen for colon cancer and colon polyps
  • Pelvic exam, pap smear, and breast exam (for women)
  • Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA)
